Maruho Announces Transfer/Acquisition of Device for Pincer Nails "Makizume Meister®" Business and Establishment of the Medical Device Department
Osaka (Japan), April 1, 2020 - Maruho Co., Ltd. ("Maruho", Head Office: Osaka, Japan, President and CEO: Koichi Takagi) and group company Maruho Hatsujyo Kogyo Co. Ltd., ("MHK" Head Office: Kyoto, Japan, President: Ryohei Imai) announce today that marketing authorization and business for device for pincer nails "Makizume Meister®" (manufactured and marketed by MHK, hereinafter referred to as the "product") has been transferred to Maruho.
Maruho and MHK have been conducting information provision activities for the product since October 2019. Maruho has acquired the business with the aim of further enhancing information provision to customers and increasing the speed of product development. From now on, Maruho will act as the marketing authorization holder to market the product while providing and collecting appropriate information to ensure a stable, high-quality supply of the product.
In addition to the transfer/acquisition of the product business, the medical device business within the Maruho group was reorganized and the Medical Device Department was newly established in Maruho on April 1, 2020. In addition to prescription drugs, quasi-drugs, cosmetics, and diagnostics, the new department will optimize resources for the development, improvement and sale of medical devices. By strengthening marketing, sales, and quality and safety management systems, Maruho will improve its collection of patients' unmet medical needs and development of new products.
The Medical Device Department will mainly be engaged in pincer nail related businesses in Japan and supporting medical device-related overseas group companies. In Japan in particular, by promoting the business focusing on pincer nail correction tools, Maruho will accumulate know-how in the medical device business and make preparations to ensure the launch of new products in the future.
