  この検査で陽性のラインが出たら性器ヘルペスと診断できます。15分ほどお待ちください。

  I will do a test. I will take a sample with (a cotton swab). You may feel a little pain, but (please bear with me). If this test is positive, you have genital herpes. This may take about 15 minutes.

  抗ヘルペスウイルス薬の飲み薬を処方しておきます。ウイルスが増えるのを抑える薬ですので、決められた回数をしっかり服用してください。治るまでは2～3週間くらいかかります。

  I will prescribe antivirals to be taken orally. This medicine suppresses (the growth of the virus), so be sure to take it (at the specified times). It will take 2 to 3 weeks until you recover.

  また、ウイルスが付着した物を介して感染することもあるので、タオルなどの共有も控えてください。

  Yes, if there is contact with the affected area, you can be infectious. Therefore, you should avoid sexual relations while you have the symptoms. Also, infection can occur through objects that might have been (contaminated with the virus), so please avoid sharing of towels and other objects.

• Q. パートナーがいるのですが、どのくらいの確率で感染しますか？

  I have a partner. How likely am I to give it to her (him).

• A. 海外の報告ではパートナーとの性行為による感染率は1年間で約10％です。パートナーに同様の症状があれば検査をお勧めします。

  According to reports, the infection rate from sexual relations is about 10% in a year. If your partner has similar symptoms, I would advise her (or him) to be examined.^※1

• Q. 妊娠中に薬を飲んでも大丈夫でしょうか？（女性）

  Is it O.K. to take the medicine during pregnancy? (A female)

• A. 海外で妊娠中に抗ヘルペスウイルス薬を内服した場合と内服しなかった場合で奇形児の発現率に違いがなかったとの報告があります。しかし、抗ヘルペスウイルス薬の妊娠中の母体および胎児への影響は十分に明らかになっていませんので、母体と胎児の状態をみて慎重に判断するべきです。産婦人科の主治医に相談してください。

  According to reports, there is no difference in the rate of abnormalities whether or not an anti-herpes virus medicine is given during pregnancy. However, the effect of the anti-herpes medicine on the mother and unborn baby is not fully known, so precautions should be taken, depending on the condition of the mother and unborn baby. Please discuss this with your obstetrician.

• Q. 産まれてくる子供にも感染しますか？（女性）

  Could I infect my baby after birth? (A female)

• A. 初感染後、1ヵ月以内に経腟分娩を行うと、産まれてくる子供に感染する可能性があるため、帝王切開が検討される場合もあります。産婦人科の主治医に相談してください。

  If a baby is born vaginally within one month after the primary infection, there is a risk of infection for the baby. It may be advisable to consider a Cesarean section. You should discuss this with your obstetrician.
