  This is a disease called (herpes zoster), also known as “Shingles”. It is an illness caused by the same virus that causes (chickenpox). It must hurt a lot.

  普通、2週間くらいですが、なかには長く続く人もいます。それを防ぐためには、早くウイルスの増殖を抑える薬を飲んで、進行を防ぐことが大切です。腎臓が悪いと言われたことはありますか？

  Usually for about two weeks, but with some people (it takes longer). To avoid that, it's important to take your medicine quickly to (stop the virus from spreading). Have you ever been diagnosed as (having kidney problems)?

  では、ウイルスの増殖を抑える飲み薬を出します。1回2錠、食事の際に飲んでください。飲み始めても2日ほどは症状が悪化することがありますが、それはあなたの体がウイルスと闘っている証拠です。抗ヘルペスウイルス薬は自己判断で中止したりせず、処方された期間はきちんと服用しましょう。

  Okay, so I'll give you some medicine to stop the virus from spreading further. Please take two tablets after each meal. Sometimes the symptoms (continue to worsen) for about two days after you've started taking the medicine, but that's a sign that (the medication is fighting) against the virus. Even if the symptoms abate or disappear, please don't stop taking the anti-herpes virus medicine but continue to take it for the (prescribed period of time).

  If the blisters burst, it'll make it easier to contract a secondary bacterial infection. To prevent the virus from spreading, please don't touch the affected area.

• 小さなこどもへの接触は控えましょう。帯状疱疹が他の人にうつることはありませんが、水ぼうそうにかかったことのない乳幼児には水ぼうそうを発症させる可能性があります。

  Try to avoid physical contact with young children. Herpes zoster isn't contagious, but there is a danger of giving chickenpox to a baby that hasn't had it yet.

• いつもより水分を多めにとりましょう。

  Drink a lot more water than usual.
