Maruho was founded in Osaka in 1915, when we formed a relationship with an established American pharmaceutical manufacturing company, Mulford Laboratories.
Since then, we have developed alliances with several domestic and overseas pharmaceutical companies, including Luitpold Werk GmbH and Dr. Kade Pharmazeutische Fabrik GmbH in Germany, as part of our efforts to become a pharmaceutical company in the truest sense of the word. In order to provide physicians with pharmaceutical products needed by patients, we have pursued a variety of initiatives designed to increase our contribution to society.
Based on our core competence in the field of dermatology, we have now also earned an excellent reputation as a leading manufacturer in the additional fields of respiratory internal medicine and proctology as a supplier of topical drugs.

We are now faced with a rapid increase in the average age of the Japanese population and a declining birth rate, as well as swift advances in state-of-the-art technology as seen in research on biotechnology and the genome.
Accordingly the environment surrounding the medical care field has undergone remarkable changes on a worldwide scale. In the midst of this turbulent age, Maruho feels the need to increase its value to society.
